Inspiring Young Readers Through Faith-Based Literature

Mwango Liyanda Luundu is a Zambian author, creative entrepreneur, and the Founder and CEO of Legacy Crafts Atelier. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with Development Studies from the University of Zambia.

Her writing focuses on Bible storybooks and activity books for children, alongside faith-inspired publications for young adults, youth, men and women. Through her writing and creative enterprise, she seeks to inspire faith, nurture creativity and share meaningful lessons that enrich lives and encourage future generations.

Bringing the Story of David and Goliath to Life

Among her published works is a children’s book based on the biblical story of David and Goliath. Through vibrant, African-themed illustrations, the book helps young readers connect with this timeless story of faith and courage.

Inspired by Philippians 4:13 and Proverbs 22:6, the book encourages children to face their fears, trust in God and recognise how faith, courage and the talents God has given them can help them overcome everyday challenges.

As an author beginning her publishing journey, Mwango is embracing the opportunity to use her work to make a meaningful contribution to children’s literacy and inspire the next generation.

Ten Books, One Shared Mission

Through her donation of 10 children’s books, Mwango is taking a practical step towards helping the Read To The World Project expand access to reading materials.

Every book contributed to the initiative represents another opportunity for a child to discover a story, develop reading skills, explore new ideas and build a lasting relationship with books. Donations from authors and other supporters help strengthen the collective effort to make reading materials more accessible.

Sharing meaningful stories with young readers is one way to nurture a lasting love of reading.

The Read To The World Project aims to distribute 100,000 books, including print books and e-books, by December 2030. Achieving this goal requires collaboration among authors, publishers, schools, libraries, organisations, businesses and individuals who believe in the power of literature.

Contributions such as Mwango’s demonstrate how individuals can support this mission through the resources, skills and knowledge they already possess.

A Pledge to Become a Literacy Partner

Beyond her book donation, Mwango has pledged to become a Literacy Partner, expressing her desire to be a blessing to children around the world through faith-based books.

“I am looking forward to being a blessing to children around the world with faith-based books.”

Her words reflect a commitment to making literature part of a broader effort to support children’s learning and development. Literacy Partners can contribute in different ways, including donating books, supporting reading initiatives, promoting literacy awareness and connecting the project with potential supporters.

Her involvement also highlights the important role authors can play in literacy development. Writers do more than create stories; they inspire curiosity, communicate values and introduce readers to ideas that can shape their understanding of the world.

Building a Culture of Reading Together

The Read To The World Project was established to expand access to books and encourage reading among children, young people and underserved communities. Through collaboration with authors, publishers, schools, libraries, sponsors and individual supporters, the initiative seeks to make books more accessible and strengthen the place of reading in everyday life.

Meaningful progress requires more than publishing books. It also requires people who are willing to share those books, support readers and help build environments where reading is encouraged.

Zambian ARTS Publishing House and the Read To The World Project appreciate Mwango Liyanda Luundu’s generosity and her pledge to support the initiative as a Literacy Partner. Her contribution is a welcome example of how authors can combine a passion for writing with a commitment to the next generation.
