Every young person who learns to read confidently gains more than a skill, they gain the ability to imagine, question, create, and shape their own future.

Yet across Zambia, many children, young people, and communities continue to face limited access to quality reading materials and meaningful opportunities to develop a lifelong love of reading. At the same time, many talented African authors struggle to publish their work and connect with the readers who need their stories most.
Recognising these challenges, Zambian ARTS Publishing House launched the Read To The World Project in June 2026, a national community literacy and reading culture initiative dedicated to strengthening literacy, expanding access to quality books, and empowering Zambian and African authors.
More Than Books; A Movement for Literacy
While the project aims to provide access to 100,000 book copies by December 2030, its mission reaches far beyond that milestone.
The true goal is to build a nation of readers.
Every book distributed represents an opportunity for someone to discover new ideas, strengthen their literacy skills, build confidence, explore their creativity, and unlock opportunities for lifelong learning.
